Plastics piping systems for non-pressure underground drainage and sewerage - Polypropylene (PP) - Part 2: Guidance for the assessment of conformity

This document gives guidance for the assessment of conformity of materials, products, joints and assemblies in accordance with the applicable part(s) of EN 1852 intended to be included in the manufacturer’s quality plan as part of the quality management system and for the establishment of certification procedures.
NOTE 1   The quality management system is expected to conform to or be no less stringent than the relevant requirements in EN ISO 9001 [1].
NOTE 2   If third-party certification is involved, the certification body is expected be accredited to EN ISO/IEC 17065 [2] or EN ISO/IEC 17021 [3], as applicable.
NOTE 3   In order to help the reader, a basic test matrix is given in Annex A.
In conjunction with EN 1852-1 this document is applicable to solid wall piping systems made of polypropylene (PP) intended to be used for:
-    non-pressure underground drainage and sewerage outside the building structure (application area code “U”), and
-   non-pressure underground drainage and sewerage for both buried in ground within the building structure (application area code “D”) and outside the building structure.
This is reflected in the marking of products by “U” and “UD”.

Dieses Dokument enthält Empfehlungen für die Beurteilung der Konformität von Werkstoffen, Erzeugnissen, Verbindungen und Bauteilkombinationen entsprechend des/der zutreffenden Teile(s) von EN 1852, die als Teil des Qualitätsmanagementsystems im Qualitätssicherungsplan des Herstellers und für die Einführung von Zertifizierungsverfahren vorgesehen sind.
ANMERKUNG 1   Es wird davon ausgegangen, dass das Qualitätsmanagementsystem EN ISO 9001 [1] oder mindestens ebenso strengen Anforderungen entspricht.
ANMERKUNG 2   Bei Drittstellenzertifizierung wird davon ausgegangen, dass die Zertifizierungsstelle in Abhängigkeit von der Anwendung nach EN ISO/IEC 17065 [2] oder EN ISO/IEC 17021 [3] zugelassen ist.
ANMERKUNG 3   Zur Unterstützung des Lesers enthält Anhang A einen Überblick über das Prüfsystem.
Dieses Dokument gilt in Verbindung mit EN 1852 1 für Vollwand Rohrleitungssysteme aus Polypropylen (PP), die für folgende Verwendungszwecke vorgesehen sind:
   für erdverlegte drucklose Abwasserkanäle und  leitungen für Anwendungen außerhalb der Gebäudestruktur (Anwendungskennzeichen „U“); und
   für erdverlegte drucklose Abwasserkanäle und  leitungen für Anwendungen sowohl erdverlegt innerhalb der Gebäudestruktur (Anwendungs¬kennzeichen „D“) als auch außerhalb der Gebäudestruktur.
Dies wird durch die Kennzeichnung auf dem Erzeugnis durch „U“ bzw. „UD“ angezeigt.

Ta dokument vsebuje navodila za ugotavljanje skladnosti materialov, izdelkov, spojev in sestavov z ustreznimi deli standarda EN 1852, ki naj bi se vključila v poslovnik kakovosti proizvajalca kot del sistema vodenja kakovosti, vsebuje pa tudi navodila za vzpostavitev postopka certificiranja.
OPOMBA 1: Pričakuje se, da je sistem vodenja kakovosti skladen s standardom EN ISO 9001 [1] oziroma da ni manj strog od ustreznih zahtev iz tega standarda.
OPOMBA 2: Če certificiranje izvaja zunanji ponudnik, je pričakovano, da je certifikacijski organ akreditiran v skladu s standardom EN ISO/IEC 17065 [2] oziroma EN ISO/IEC 17021 [3].
OPOMBA 3: V pomoč bralcem dodatek A vsebuje osnovno preskusno matriko.

This Technical Specification (CEN/TS) was approved by CEN on 7 October 2019 for provisional application.

The period of validity of this CEN/TS is limited initially to three years. After two years the members of CEN will be requested to
submit their comments, particularly on the question whether the CEN/TS can be converted into a European Standard.

NOTE 4   It is assumed that additional recommendations and/or requirements are detailed in the individual product standards.
NOTE 5    If non-plastic components are part of the plastic system the manufacturer's instructions should be taken into account.
Requirements and instructions concerning commissioning of systems can be found in EN 805 and EN 1610 and the relevant national and/or local regulations. This document gives specific additional recommendations for commissioning relevant for plastic piping systems.
Attention is drawn to any relevant local and/or national regulations (e.g. health, safety and hygienic requirements).

This part specifies general aspects and gives guidance concerning a national selection of requirement levels and classes where part 2 and part 3 of this standard provide options.
EN 13476 2 and EN 13476 3 specify material characteristics, dimensions and tolerances, test methods, test parameters and requirements for pipes with smooth internal and external surfaces, Type A, and pipes with smooth internal and profiled external surfaces, Type B.

This Technical Specification, which is a guidance document for use with a structural analysis procedure for below ground installations, covers limits applicable to glass-reinforced thermosetting plastics (GRP) pipes used for the conveyance of liquids under pressure or gravity conditions.
This document does not specify a particular structural analysis procedure but gives guidance on the selection of a structural analysis procedure. It concludes that any established structural analysis procedure may be used provided it includes the assessment of short and long-term deflection and buckling resistance.
Products complying to the applicable GRP product standards EN 1796 or EN 14364, which are not subject to internal pressure, are suitable as long as the analysis shows that the long-term deflection of the installed pipes is limited to 6 %, which is the basic assumption of the GRP pipe product standards. Products complying with the applicable system standards (EN 1796 or EN 14364), which are subject to internal pressure, are suitable as long as the analysis shows that the initial deflection of the installed pipes does not exceed 3 %.
NOTE   The approach followed when preparing a general structural analysis procedure does not depend on the nominal size(s) of the pipe(s).
A suitable structural analysis procedure should normally be capable of being used for pipes operating at different temperatures provided that the corresponding temperature re-rating factors for the relevant pipe properties are applied, as specified in the referring standard(s). Nevertheless, high service temperatures may require an additional analysis of the longitudinal stresses and strains and/or a special design of the joints.
Normal structural analysis procedures are intended to cover normal soil installation conditions. Pipes to be designed for installations in abnormal or unusual conditions, e.g. in quick soils or a marine sea-bed, may require special engineering. Some structural analysis procedures may include axial effects depending upon the type of joint used.

This European Standard is applicable to PE pipes with or without an integral socket.
The fittings can be manufactured by injection-moulding or be fabricated from pipes and/or mouldings.
This European Standard is applicable to PE pipes and fittings for the following types of joints:
-   elastomeric ring seal joints;
-   butt fused joints;
-   electrofusion joints;
-   mechanical joints.
NOTE 2   Requirements and limiting values for application area code "D" are given in Tables 3, 6 and Table 12.
NOTE 3    Pipes, fittings and other components conforming to any of the plastics product standards listed in the bibliography may be used with pipes and fittings conforming to this European Standard, provided they conform to the requirements for joint dimensions given in Clause 6 and to the requirements of Table 8 and Table 12.

ISO 1452-2:2009 specifies the characteristics of solid-wall pipes made from unplasticized poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC‑U) for piping systems intended for water supply and for buried and above ground drainage and sewerage under pressure. It also specifies the test parameters for the test methods referred to.
In conjunction with ISO 1452-1 and ISO 1452-5, it is applicable to extruded PVC‑U pipes without a socket and pipes with a socket (integral or not), intended to be used for the following:
- water mains and services buried in the ground;
- conveyance of water above ground for both outside and inside buildings;
- buried and above ground drainage and sewerage under pressure.
It is applicable to piping systems intended for the supply of water under pressure up to and including 25 °C (cold water) intended for human consumption and for general purposes as well as for waste water under pressure. It is also applicable to pipes for the conveyance of water and waste water up to and including 45 °C and to a range of pipe sizes and pressure classes. It gives requirements concerning colours.
