This document specifies the general characteristics of fibre ropes and their constituent materials. It is intended to be used in conjunction with the standards for the individual types of fibre rope, which cover the physical properties and specific requirements for that particular product type.
This document also gives some information on the use of fibre ropes and also on their inspection and retirement criteria.
This document does not intend to address all of the safety matters associated with its use.

Sie soll zusammen mit den einzelnen Faserseilnormen, die die physikalischen Eigenschaften und die speziellen Anforderungen für den bestimmten Produkttyp abdecken, angewendet werden.
Dieses Dokument enthält auch einige Angaben über die Verwendung von Faserseilen sowie über deren Überprüfung und Ablegekriterien.
Dieses Dokument beabsichtigt nicht, alle Sicherheitsaspekte im Zusammenhang mit ihrer Verwendung zu behandeln.

Le présent document spécifie les caractéristiques générales des cordages en fibres et de leurs matières constitutives. Elle est destinée à être utilisée conjointement avec les normes particulières à chaque type de cordage en fibre qui traitent des propriétés physiques et des exigences particulières à chacun des types de produits.
Le présent document donne en outre quelques indications sur l'utilisation des cordages en fibres, ainsi que sur leur inspection et les critères de réforme.
Le présent document n'a pas pour objectif d'aborder toutes les questions de sécurité liées à son utilisation.

Ta standard določa splošne lastnosti vlaknenih vrvi in njihovih sestavnih materialov. Namenjen je za uporabo skupaj s standardi za posamezne vrste vlaknenih vrvi, ki zajemajo fizične lastnosti in specifične zahteve za to konkretno vrsto izdelka. Ta dokument tudi navaja nekaj informacij o uporabi vlaknenih vrvi in tudi o merilih za preverjanje in umik vrvi. Ta dokument ni namenjen obravnavi vseh varnostnih zadev, ki se navezujejo na njegovo uporabo.

This document (EN ISO 9554:2019) has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 38 "Textiles" in
collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 248 “Textiles and textile products” the secretariat of
which is held by BSI.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an
identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by March 2020, and conflicting national standards shall
be withdrawn at the latest by March 2020.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of
patent rights. CEN shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.
This document supersedes EN ISO 9554:2010.
According to the CEN-CENELEC Internal Regulations, the national standards organizations of the

Dieser Europäische Norm-Entwurf wird den CEN-Mitgliedern zur parallelen Umfrage vorgelegt. Er wurde vom Technischen
Komitee CEN/TC 248 erstellt.
Wenn aus diesem Norm-Entwurf eine Europäische Norm wird, sind die CEN-Mitglieder gehalten, die CEN-Geschäftsordnung zu
erfüllen, in der die Bedingungen festgelegt sind, unter denen dieser Europäischen Norm ohne jede Änderung der Status einer
