This document is a compilation of recommended Practices for improving the energy management (i.e. reduction of energy consumption and/or increases in energy efficiency) of data centres. It is historically aligned with the EU Code of Conduct for Data Centre Energy Efficiency (CoC) scheme operated by the Directorate-General Joint Research Centre (DG JRC) of the European Commission (EC). It is recognized that the Practices included might not be universally applicable to all scales and business models of data centres or be undertaken by all parties involved in data centre operation, ownership or use.

Dieses Dokument ist eine Zusammenstellung empfohlener Praktiken zur Verbesserung des Energiemanagements (d. h. Reduzierung des Energieverbrauchs und/oder Steigerung der Energieeffizienz) von Rechenzentren. Es steht traditionell in Einklang mit dem von der Generaldirektion Gemeinsame Forschungsstelle (DG JRC) der Europäischen Kommission (EK) unterhaltenen System des EU Code of Conduct for Data Centre Energy Efficiency (CoC). Ta dokument je zbirka priporočenih praks za izboljšanje upravljanja z energijo (tj. zmanjšanje porabe energije in/ali povečanje energetske učinkovitosti) podatkovnih centrov. Zgodovinsko skladen je s kodeksom ravnanja EU za energetsko učinkovitost podatkovnih centrov (CoC), ki ga upravlja Generalni direktorat Skupno raziskovalno središče (DG JRC) Evropske komisije (EK).
Ugotovljeno je, da vključene prakse morda niso univerzalno veljavne za vse obsege in poslovne modele podatkovnih centrov ali jih izvajajo vse stranke, ki so vključene v delovanje, lastništvo ali uporabo podatkovnih centrov.

In addition, this document specifies requirements and recommendations for the following: 1) general information technology cabling to support the IT operation of the data centre; 2) telecommunications cabling to monitor and control, as appropriate, power distribution, environmental control and physical security of the data centre; 3) other building automation cabling; 4) pathways, pathway systems, spaces and enclosures for the telecommunications cabling infrastructures. Safety and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements are outside the scope of this document and are covered by other standards and regulations. However, information given in this document can be of assistance in meeting these standards and regulations.
