Household electric blankets - Methods for measuring performance

IEC 60299:2014 applies to electric blankets, wraps and duvets for household use. This International Standard defines the main performance characteristics of electric blankets, wraps and duvets and specifies methods for measuring these characteristics, for the information of users. This International Standard does not specify values for performance characteristics. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: a) extended classification; b) extended list of measurements; c) temperature measurement means changed to thermocouples.

La présente Norme internationale définit les principales caractéristiques de performances des couvertures, des châles et des couettes chauffants électriques à usage domestique et spécifie les méthodes pour la vérification de ces caractéristiques, pour l'information des utilisateurs. La présente Norme internationale ne spécifie pas de valeurs pour les caractéristiques de performances. Cette édition inclut les modifications techniques majeures suivantes par rapport à l'édition précédente: a) classification étendue; b) liste de mesures étendue; c) moyens de mesure de température changés en thermocouples.

The text of document 59C/181/FDIS, future edition 3 of IEC 60299, prepared by SC 59C "Heating
appliances" of IEC/TC 59 "Performance of household and similar electrical appliances" was submitted
to the IEC-CENELEC parallel vote and approved by CENELEC as EN 60299:2014.
The following dates are fixed:
– latest date by which the document has to be implemented at (dop) 2015-05-14
national level by publication of an identical national
standard or by endorsement
– latest date by which the national standards conflicting with (dow) 2017-08-14
the document have to be withdrawn

This document supersedes EN 60299:1994.
