Household and similar electrical appliances - Safety - Part 2-40: Particular requirements for electrical heat pumps, air-conditioners and dehumidifiers

Deals with the safety of electric heat pumps, including sanitary hot water heat pumps, air-conditioners, and dehumidifiers incorporating sealed motor-compressors. The maximum rated voltage being not more than 250 V for single phase and 600 V for all other appliances. The referenced appliances may consist of one or more assemblies. If provided in more than one assembly, the assemblies are to be used together, and the requirements are based on the use of matched assemblies. Supplmentary heater, or a provision for their seperate installation, are within the scope of this standard, but only heaters which are designed as a part of the appliance package, the controls being incorporated in the appliance.

Ta standard obravnava varnost električnih toplotnih črpalk, vključno s toplotnimi črpalkami za gospodinjsko vročo vodo, klimatskimi napravami in sušilniki zraka z zaprtimi gnanimi kompresorji. Najvišja nazivna napetost ne sme presegati 250 V za enofazne naprave in 600 V za vse druge naprave. Navedene naprave so lahko sestavljene iz enega sestava ali več. Če zajemajo več kot en sestav, se morajo sestavi uporabljati skupaj, zahteve pa temeljijo na uporabi združenih sestavov. This amendment A2 modifies the European Standard EN 60335-2-40:2003; it was approved by CENELEC
on 2009-03-01. CENELEC members are bound to comply with the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations
which stipulate the conditions for giving this amendment the status of a national standard without any
alteration.

Up-to-date lists and bibliographical references concerning such national standards may be obtained on
application to the Central Secretariat or to any CENELEC member.

This amendment exists in three official versions (English, French, German). A version in any other language
made by translation under the responsibility of a CENELEC member into its own language and notified to the
Central Secretariat has the same status as the official versions.

Foreword
The text of document 61D/136C/FDIS, future amendment 2 to IEC 60335-2-40:2002, prepared by
SC 61D, Appliances for air-conditioning for household and similar purposes, of the IEC TC 61, Safety
of household and similar electrical appliances, was submitted to the IEC-CENELEC parallel vote.
During the ratification process, CENELEC TC 61 became aware that a modification was needed to
align the amendment with the common modifications in EN 60335-2-40:2003. The issue was
discussed during the Brughes meeting in June 2005, when it was decided to submit a new draft to the
formal vote.
The draft was circulated in June 2008 and was approved by CENELEC as amendment A2 to
EN 60335-2-40:2003 on 2009-03-01.
The following dates are applicable:
