This amendment A1 modifies the European Standard EN 50570:2013; it was approved by CENELEC on 2017-06-26. CENELEC members
are bound to comply with the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations which stipulate the conditions for giving this amendment the status of a
national standard without any alteration.
Up-to-date lists and bibliographical references concerning such national standards may be obtained on application to the CEN-CENELEC
Management Centre or to any CENELEC member.
This amendment exists in three official versions (English, French, German). A version in any other language made by translation under the
responsibility of a CENELEC member into its own language and notified to the CEN-CENELEC Management Centre has the same status as

EN 50570:2013/A1:2018 is to be read in conjunction with EN 60335-1:2012 and A11:2014, A12:2017,
A13:2017, A1:201X, A14:201X, which is referred to in this text as “Part 1”.
NOTE The following numbering system is used:
– subclauses, tables and figures that are numbered starting from 101 are additional to those in
Part 1;

IEC 60335-2-4:2021 is available as IEC 60335-2-4:2021 RLV which contains the International Standard and its Redline version, showing all changes of the technical content compared to the previous edition.IEC 60335-2-4:2021 deals with the safety of stand-alone electric spin extractors and spin extractors incorporated in washing machines that have separate containers for washing and spin extraction for household and similar purposes that have a capacity not exceeding 10 kg of dry cloth and a drum peripheral speed not exceeding 50 m/s, their rated voltages being not more than 250 V for single-phase appliances and 480 V for other appliances. Appliances not intended for normal household use but which nevertheless may be a source of danger to the public, such as spin extractors intended to be used by laymen in shops, in light industry and on farms, and spin extractors for communal use in blocks of flats or in launderettes, are within the scope of this standard. As far as is practicable, this standard deals with the common hazards presented by appliances which are encountered by all persons in and around the home. Attention is drawn to the fact that: - for appliances intended to be used in vehicles or on board ships or aircraft, additional requirements can be necessary; - in many countries, additional requirements are specified by the national health authorities, the national authorities responsible for the protection of labour, the national water supply authorities and similar authorities. This standard does not apply to: - appliances intended exclusively for industrial purposes; - appliances intended to be used in locations where special conditions prevail, such as the presence of a corrosive or explosive atmosphere (dust, vapour or gas). This seventh edition cancels and replaces the sixth edition published in 2008, Amendment 1:2012 and Amendment 2:2017. This edition constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: - aligns the text with IEC 60335-1, Ed 5, and its Amendments 1 and 2; - replacement of the term definition of accessible part to include test probe 18; - addition of test probe 18 for accessibility of live parts. This part 2 is to be used in conjunction with the fifth edition of IEC 60335-1:2010 and its amendments.

This clause of Part 1 is replaced by the following: This document deals with the safety of electrically operated commercial rotary ironers, intended to be used by trained users in e.g. hotels hospitals, factories, in light industry and on farms. It also covers rotary ironers which are declared for commercial use in areas open to the public and operated by lay persons e.g. in laundrettes and communal laundry rooms. Their rated voltage being not more than 250 V for single phase and 480 V for others. This document also covers electrically operated commercial rotary ironers making use of other energy sources. It does not cover requirements for these other energy sources for heating purposes. However, the influence of these other energy sources on the machine is covered. As far as is practicable, this document deals with the common hazards presented by appliances that are encountered by all persons in household and similar environments. However, in general, it does not take into account - children playing with the appliance, - the use of the appliance by children, It is recognized that very vulnerable people may have needs beyond the level addressed in this document. Products covered by this document do not create a noise hazard, therefore no specific provisions concerning noise are given. NOTE 101 Attention is drawn to the fact that - for electrically operated commercial rotary ironers intended to be used in vehicles or on board ships or aircraft, additional requirements can be necessary; - in many countries additional requirements are specified by the national health authorities, the national authorities responsible for the protection of labour and similar authorities. This document does not apply to - industrial flatwork ironers having a surface contact area ≥ 1,20 m2, feeders and folders (EN ISO 10472 5); - appliances intended to be used in locations where special conditions prevail, such as the presence of a corrosive or explosive atmosphere (dust, vapour or gas); For the purpose of this document, the term "appliance" as used in Part 1 is read as "electrically operated commercial rotary ironers".

IEC 60335-2-43:2017(E) deals with the safety of electric clothes dryers for drying textiles on racks located in a warm airflow, clothes dryers intended for drying footwear or gloves and to electric towel rails, for household and similar purposes, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V. The clothes racks can be fixed or free-standing in a cabinet. The air circulation can be natural or forced. Appliances not intended for normal household use but that nevertheless may be a source of danger to the public, such as appliances intended to be used by laymen in shops, in light industry and on farms, are within the scope of this standard. As far as is practicable, this standard deals with the common hazards presented by appliances that are encountered by all persons in and around the home. However, in general, it does not take into account persons (including children) whose physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge prevents them from using the appliance safely without supervision or instruction or children playing with the appliance. Attention is drawn to the fact that for appliances intended to be used in vehicles or on board ships or aircraft, additional requirements may be necessary. This standard does not apply to spin extractors (IEC 60335-2-4): - tumble dryers (IEC 60335-2-11); - appliances intended exclusively for industrial purposes or appliances intended to be used in locations where special conditions prevail, such as the presence of a corrosive or explosive atmosphere (dust, vapour or gas). This fourth edition cancels and replaces the third edition published in 2002 including its Amendment 1 (2005) and its Amendment 2 (2008). This edition constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: requirements for clothes dryers intended for drying footwear or gloves have been introduced (1, 3.1.9, 6.2, 11.8, 19.1, 19.13, 19.101, 19.102, 22.40, 23.3). This part 2 is to be used in conjunction with the latest edition of IEC 60335-1 and its amendments. It was established on the basis of the fifth edition (2010) of that standard. The attention of National Committees is drawn to the fact that equipment manufacturers and testing organizations may need a transitional period following publication of a new, amended or revised IEC publication in which to make products in accordance with the new requirements and to equip themselves for conducting new or revised tests. It is the recommendation of the committee that the content of this publication be adopted for implementation nationally not earlier than 12 months or later than 36 months from the date of its publication.
