Surface cleaning appliances - Part 6: Wet hard floor cleaning appliances for household or similar use - Methods for measuring the performance

IEC/ASTM 62885-6:2018 is applicable for measurements of the performance of wet hard floor cleaning appliances for household use in or under conditions similar to those in households. In the case of appliances with combined functionality, this document only addresses the wet cleaning functionality.
The purpose of this document is to specify essential performance characteristics of wet hard floor cleaning appliances that are of interest to users and to describe methods for measuring these characteristics.
This document is not intended for cordless and robotic wet hard floor cleaning appliances.
For safety requirements, reference is made to IEC 60335-1, IEC 60335-2-2, IEC 60335-2-10, and IEC 60335-2-54.
A recommendation on information for the consumer at the point of sale is given in Annex B.

IEC/ASTM 62885-6:2018 s'applique aux mesures de l'aptitude à la fonction des appareils de nettoyage des sols durs et mouillés à usage domestique ou utilisés dans des conditions similaires. Dans le cas des appareils dont les fonctions sont combinées, le présent document ne porte que sur la fonction de nettoyage par voie humide.
Le présent document a pour objet de spécifier les caractéristiques essentielles d'aptitude à la fonction d'appareils de nettoyage des sols durs et mouillés présentant un intérêt pour les utilisateurs et de décrire des méthodes de mesure de ces caractéristiques.
Le présent document n'est pas destiné aux appareils de nettoyage des sols durs et mouillés sans fil et robotisés.
Pour les exigences de sécurité, il est fait référence aux normes IEC 60335-1, IEC 60335-2-2, IEC 60335-2-10 et IEC 60335-2-54.

Surface cleaning appliances - Part 9: Floor treatment machines with or without traction drive, for commercial use - Methods for measuring the performance

IEC 62885-9:2019 lists the characteristic performance parameters for walk-behind and ride-on floor scrubbers and sweepers and other floor cleaning machines in accordance with IEC 60335-2-72:2016.
The intent is to serve the manufacturers in describing parameters for their manuals and their literature. This may include all or some of the parameters listed in this definition document.
This first edition of IEC 62885-9 cancels and replaces IEC 62826:2014 and constitutes a technical revision.
This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to IEC 62826:2014
a) reference to a dated version of IEC 60335-2-72 to ensure consistency between the two standards;
b) a new calculation for the nominal current consumption in 22.1;
c) a new calculation for the maximum net run-time of commercial floor treatment machines in 22.2;
d) update of the Bibliography.

Surface cleaning appliances - Part 8: Dry vacuum cleaners for commercial use - Methods for measuring the performance

IEC 62885-8:2019 is applicable for measurements of the performance of mains-operated dry vacuum cleaners, including water filter vacuum cleaners, for commercial use. The requirements for the construction and testing covered by this document are applied in addition to the requirements for commercial vacuum cleaners in IEC 60335-2-69.
The purpose of this document is to specify essential performance characteristics of dry vacuum cleaners for commercial use that are of interest to operators and to describe methods for measuring these characteristics.
Due to the influence of environmental conditions, variations in time, origin of test materials and proficiency of the operator, some of the described test methods will give more reliable results when applied for comparative testing of a number of appliances at the same time, in the same laboratory and by the same operator.
The methods here can be applied with modifications for surface-cleaning product types or technologies not currently covered within the scope.
For safety requirements, reference is made to IEC 60335-1 and IEC 60335-2-69.

Surface cleaning appliances - Part 1: General requirements on test material and test equipment

IEC TS 62885-1:2018(E) specifies the physical characteristics of test equipment and material used in tests common for several products covered by standards in the IEC 62885 series for surface cleaning appliances. In addition, it provides guidance regarding the evaluation of Wilton and other types of carpets to determine their acceptability for testing.
This edition includes the following significant technical change with respect to the previous edition:
a new clause (Clause 5) on the pre-treatment of carpets has been introduced.
This edition covers only the Wilton carpet and its treatment.

Surface cleaning appliances - Part 3: Wet carpet cleaning appliances - Methods for measuring the performance

IEC 62885-3:2014 is applicable to wet cleaning appliances for household use for carpet cleaning in or under conditions similar to those in households. This part of IEC 62885 is not applicable to steam cleaning vacuums. The purpose of this standard is to:
- specify the essential performance characteristics of wet cleaning appliances being of interest to users
- describe methods for measuring these characteristics and
- be complementary to the methods for dry vacuum cleaners in IEC 60312-1.
Due to influence of environmental conditions, variations in time, origin of test materials and proficiency of the operator, most of the described test methods will give more reliable results when applied for comparative testing of a number of appliances at the same time, in the same laboratory and by the same operator.

IEC 60704-2-1:2014 applies to electrical vacuum cleaners (including their accessories and their component parts) for household use in or under conditions similar to those in households. This part of IEC 60704 applies as it is to electrical vacuum cleaners operating in dry conditions. a) introduction of a measuring method on hard floors;
b) inclusion of values for measurement uncertainty;
c) inclusion of values for standard deviation for declaration and verification;
d) update of the definition of the standard test carpet.
