ISO 10286:2015 gives the terminology for ISO/TC 58 standards intended to be used under regulations for the transport of dangerous goods that are based on the UN Model Regulations. Variations from the terminology are permissible to comply with other regulations such as for stationary and automotive applications.

ISO (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies
(ISO member bodies). The work of preparing International Standards is normally carried out through ISO
technical committees. Each member body interested in a subject for which a technical committee has been

This fourth edition cancels and replaces the third edition (ISO 10286:2007), which has been technically
revised.
The main changes include the following:

a) The terminology has been revised to comply to the 18 edition of the UN model regulations;
b) The layout of the document has been changed following ISO 10241-1. Consequently:
1) the terms and their respective definitions are now found at one place;
2) Annexes B to F were deleted;
3) numbers have changed.
c) Many terms and definitions were added or modified.

2) les Annexes B à F ont été supprimées;
3) la numérotation a été modifiée.
