Specifies the relevant characteristics of the working parts of dental rotary instruments, e.g. burs, laboratory burs, grinding instruments, diamond instruments, mandrels, etc. It does not cover the diameters of root canal instruments.

Zahnärztliche rotierende Instrumente - Nenndurchmesser und Bezeichnungsnummer (ISO 2157:1992)

In dieser Internationalen Norm sind die Nenndurchmesser für die Arbeitsteile zahnärztlicher rotierender Instrumente, wie zum Beispiel Bohrer, Laborbohrer, Schleifinstrumente, Diamantinstrumente, Mandrelle usw. und die entsprechenden Bezeichnung aufgeführt. Diese Norm gilt nicht für die Durchmesser von Wurzelkanalinstrumenten.

La présente Norme internationale prescrit les diamètres nominaux des parties actives des instruments rotatifs dentaires, par exemple les fraises, les fraises de laboratoire (fraises techniques), les instruments abrasifs, les instruments diamantés, les mandrins, etc., et les désignations correspondantes. Elle ne couvre pas les diamètres des instruments pour canaux radiculaires.

Foreword
ISO (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide
federation of national Standards bodies (ISO member bodies). The work
of preparing International Standards is normally carried out through ISO
technical committees. Esch member body interested in a subject for
which a technical committee has been established has the right to be
represented on that committee. International organizations, govern-
mental and non-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the
work. ISO collaborates closely with the International Electrotechnical
Commission (IEC) on all matters of electrotechnical standardization.

This third edition cancels and replaces the second edition
(ISO 2157:1984), differentes from which are indicated in the Introduction.
