This part of ISO 9073 specifies a method for determining the resistance to mechanical penetration of nonwoven fabrics by a ball of a given diameter. The method is primarily designed to be used on nonwovens with some degree of elasticity, for which a regular burst test is not applicable.

Dieses Prüfverfahren wird zur Bestimmung der Beständigkeit gegen mechanische Penetration von Flächengebilden aus Vliesstoffen durch eine Kugel mit festgelegtem Durchmesser angewendet.
Das vorliegende Verfahren ist vorrangig gestaltet, um bei Vliesstoffen mit einer gewissen Elastizität angewendet zu werden, bei denen der reguläre Berstversuch nicht anwendbar ist.

L'ISO 9073-5:2008 spécifie une méthode pour la détermination de la résistance à la pénétration des nontissés par une bille d'un diamètre donné.
Cette méthode est essentiellement destinée à être utilisée sur des nontissés ayant un certain degré d'élasticité, pour lesquels un essai d'éclatement normal n'est pas applicable.

Foreword
ISO (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies
(ISO member bodies). The work of preparing International Standards is normally carried out through ISO
technical committees. Each member body interested in a subject for which a technical committee has been
established has the right to be represented on that committee. International organizations, governmental and

International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) on all matters of electrotechnical standardization.
International Standards are drafted in accordance with the rules given in the ISO/IEC Directives, Part 2.
