This amendment A2 modifies the European Standard EN 62080:2009; it was approved by CENELEC on 2015-05-22. CENELEC members

exceeding 500 Hz and a rated current not exceeding 63 A, primarily intended for industrial
use, either indoors or outdoors, for use with accessories complying with IEC 60309-1,
IEC 60309-2 or IEC 60309-4.
This document applies to:
– portable cable reels equipped with one plug or appliance-inlet complying with IEC 60309-1
or IEC 60309-2 and at least one socket-outlet complying with IEC 60309-1, IEC 60309-2
or IEC 60309-4;
– fixed cable reels equipped with at least one socket-outlet complying with IEC 60309-1,
IEC 60309-2 or IEC 60309-4;
– cable reels suitable for use at ambient temperature normally within the range of −25 °C
to +40 °C.
The use of this equipment on construction sites and for agricultural, commercial and domestic
appliances is not precluded.
This document also applies to cable reels intended to be used in extra-low voltage
installations.
In locations where special conditions prevail, for example, on board ships, in vehicles and the
like, or where explosions are liable to occur, additional requirements can be necessary.
NOTE 1 This document was not developed for Electric Vehicle (EV) application, but it can be used as guide for
cable reels for EV application

This part of IEC 60670 applies to boxes, enclosures and parts of enclosures (hereafter called
“boxes” and “enclosures”) for electrical accessories with a rated voltage not exceeding
1 000 V a.c. and 1 500 V d.c. intended for household or similar fixed electrical installations,
either indoors or outdoors.
Boxes and enclosures complying with this standard are suitable for use at ambient
temperatures not normally exceeding +40 °C, but their average over a period of 24 h does not
exceed +35 °C, with a lower limit of the ambient air temperature of −5 °C.
During the installation the temperature may be outside the above temperature range
according to the classification of the boxes and the enclosures.
This International Standard is intended to apply to boxes and enclosures for electrical
accessories within the scope of IEC technical committee 23.
This standard may be used as a reference document for other IEC technical committees and
subcommittees.
A box or an enclosure which is an integral part of an electrical accessory and provides
protection for that accessory against external influences (for example mechanical impact,
ingress of solid objects or water, etc.) is covered by the relevant standard for such an
accessory.
This standard does not apply to
– ceiling roses;
– luminaire supporting couplers;
– boxes, enclosures and parts of enclosures specifically designed to be used for cable
trunking and ducting systems complying with IEC 61084 and which are not intended to be
installed outside of these systems.

The purpose of this document is to provide requirements for equipment to be used in energy
efficiency systems. This document covers load-shedding equipment (LSE).
Guidelines relating to safety for LSE as given in IEC Guide 110 have been followed.
This document applies to load-shedding equipment for household and similar uses. The loadshedding
function is used in energy management systems to optimize the overall use of
electrical energy including production and storage. Load-shedding can be used for example
for energy efficiency purposes as per IEC 60364-8-1:2019.
This document applies to LSE for operation under normal conditions:
– AC circuits with a rated frequency of 50 Hz, 60 Hz or both, with a rated voltage not
exceeding 440 V (between phases), a rated current not exceeding 125 A and a rated
short-circuit capacity not exceeding 25 000 A; or
– DC circuits1.
LSEs are intended to control the energy supplied to one or more load, circuit or mesh when:
– defined conditions of time and current are reached;
– a command or information from an external system is received.
An LSE is intended to serve as:
– a single equipment having all the necessary means able to control the loads (e.g. the
electrical energy management function is embedded in such an equipment); or
– a unit integrated into a more complex equipment or an independent equipment being part
of an electrical energy management system (EEMS); or
– an assembly of independent equipment forming an LSE (e.g. an LSE with external current
sensors); or
– as a combination of the above points.
LSE can have a wireless interface.
LSE is part of the fixed installation.
NOTE 1 This document covers load shedding equipment in the fixed installations including portable appliances
connected thereto.
LSE are intended for use in circuits with protection against electrical shock and over-current
according to IEC 60364 (all parts).
NOTE 2 For example, fault protection (indirect contact protection) can be covered as follows:
– in TT systems, by an upstream RCBOs or RCCBs according to IEC 61008-1 and IEC 61009-1;
– in a TN system, by an upstream over-current protective device.
LSEs do not, by their nature, provide an isolation function nor the over-current protection.
LSEs are normally installed by instructed persons (IEC 60050-195:1998, 195-04-02) or skilled
persons (IEC 60050-195:1998, 195-04-01) and normally used by ordinary persons
(IEC 60005-195:1998, 195-04-03).
This document contains all requirements necessary to ensure compliance with the operational
characteristics required by type tests for LSEs based on single equipment or based on an
assembly of independent equipment.
These requirements apply for standard conditions of temperature and environment as given
in 5.1. They are applicable to LSEs with a degree of protection of IP 20 intended for use in an
environment with pollution degree 2. For LSE having a degree of protection higher than IP 20
according to IEC 60529, for use in locations where arduous environmental conditions prevail
(e.g. excessive humidity, heat or cold or deposition of dust) and in hazardous locations (e.g.
where explosions are liable of occur), special construction can be required.
If other functions are included in LSE, these functions are covered by the relevant standards.
This document does not address communication aspects such as protocols, interoperability,
data security and any other related aspects.

This part of IEC 60670 applies to enclosures and parts of them for housing protective devices and other power dissipating electrical equipment intended to be used with a rated voltage not exceeding 400 V and a total incoming load current not exceeding 125 A for household and similar fixed electrical installations. These enclosures are intended to be installed where unskilled persons have access. They are intended to be integrated with electrical equipment on site by skilled persons (installers). They are intended to be installed where the prospective short circuit current does not exceed 10 kA unless they are protected by current limiting protective devices with a cut-off current not exceeding 17 kA. Enclosures complying with this standard are suitable for use, after installation, at ambient temperature not normally exceeding 25 °C, but occasionally reaching 35 °C over 24 h, max. 40 °C and min. –5 °C. An enclosure which is an integral part of an electrical accessory and provides protection against external influences (e.g. mechanical impacts, ingress of solid objects or of water), is covered by the relevant standard for such an accessory. This standard does not apply to a low-voltage switchgear and controlgear assembly(ASSEMBLY) as defined in the IEC 60439 or IEC 61439 series of standards nor to a main entrance panel which may or may not be part of the distribution board.

This International Standard applies to sound signalling devices with integral enclosures or to sound signalling devices intended to be fitted into or supplied with enclosures according to IEC 60670 intended for household and similar purposes with rated voltages not exceeding 250 V a.c. or 250 V d.c. and with rated power inputs not exceeding 100 VA. In these sound signalling devices an indicating light having a rated input power not exceeding 10 VA may also be incorporated. These products are designated as "devices" throughout the remainder of the text. This standard applies to fixed, portable and plug-in devices for indoor or outdoor use. In locations where special conditions prevail, special constructions may be required.
