This document specifies requirements, test methods and marking for alpine ski-boots with improved walking soles that are used with systems of alpine ski-bindings for improved walking soles with attachment at the boot front and boot rear, the proper release function of which depends on the dimensions and design of the interfaces. Alpine ski boots with improved walking soles are intended to a better walkability without affecting the function of the alpine ski binding designed for improved walking soles. This document is applicable to ski-boots of sizes 15,0 and larger (Types A (Adults) and C (Children)) in the Mondo point system (see Annex A).

This document defines the minimum requirements for safety in poles for alpine and touring skiing. It specifies test methods to check conformity with these requirements. This document specifies methods for the selection of the release torques for alpine ski-bindings. It gives information necessary to determine the release torques recommended for use by ski-binding manufacturers in their instructions for installation and use, and by ski shops for the adjustment of ski-bindings already mounted. It is applicable to state-of-the-art alpine ski bindings. It might be inappropriate for non-mechanical bindings or bindings used with boots which reach more than half-way up the lower leg. This document describes a specified method for the selection of the recommended release torques considering three types of skiers. The method applies to moment-measuring binding test machines, according to ISO 11110.

This document specifies test methods for screws used for fastening ski bindings to alpine skis. NOTE 1 Acceptance criteria are specified in ISO 6004. The results of these test methods characterize the properties of the binding screw. NOTE 2 A test method for the mounting and fastening characteristics of different ski models is specified in ISO 8364.

This document specifies the dimensions and characteristics of the interface, requirements, test methods, and marking of ski-boots with a rigid sole (see 3.5) which are used with current systems of touring ski-bindings with attachment at the boot toe and boot heel, the proper release function of which depends on the dimensions and design of the interfaces. For ski-binding systems that function irrespective of the sole shape or that have different requirements for the sole dimensions, it is not always necessary for the ski-boot soles to comply with this document in order to achieve the desired degree of safety. This document is applicable to ski-boots of sizes 15,0 and larger in the Mondopoint system (see Annex A). It is applicable to rigid touring boots. Boots with softer shells like Telemark boots are excluded as they do not have the necessary shell stability to act as part of the release systems.

This document defines test soles representing — an alpine ski-boot (form A) or at least the bottom part of it to be used for testing alpine ski-bindings for alpine skiing in accordance with ISO 9462 and ISO 9465, and — a touring ski-boot (form T) or at least the bottom part of it to be used for testing touring ski-bindings for touring skiing in accordance with ISO 13992 and ISO 9465. NOTE Ski-boots have their own International Standards (ISO 5355 and ISO 9523) that allow relatively large tolerances in defining the test sole which are generally believed to be suitable for on-slope use by skiers, but too large for reproducible laboratory measurements.

This document specifies a uniform method for the sampling and inspection of complete and incomplete alpine ski-binding-boot systems used in rental operations. This document is intended for any facility which rents complete and incomplete alpine ski-binding-boot systems as for example when the skier owns the boots. This document is not applicable for alpine touring ski-binding-boot systems. This document is not applicable for complete and incomplete alpine ski-binding-boot systems which are rented for 15 days or more. NOTE 1 A period of less than 15 days is common for equipment being rented. NOTE 2 ISO 11088 gives a method for testing if the equipment is owned or rented for 15 days or more.

This document specifies assembly, adjustment and inspection procedures for the binding mechanisms of skis, integrating, in a practical way, the requirements of those International Standards which are related to skis, bindings and boots. It is intended for all individuals and institutions concerned with those procedures, and especially for sports retailers. It is applicable to a ski-binding-boot system (S-B-B) for alpine skiing, of which at least one component is owned by the user. This document is applicable for complete and incomplete alpine ski-binding-boot systems which are owned by the user or rented for 15 days or more. NOTE ISO 13993 gives a method of measurement for equipment which is rented for less than 15 days.

ISO 8364:2017 specifies requirements and test methods for the binding mounting area and free space area, ski bindings and retention devices of alpine skis, in order to optimize the compatibility of the functional unit "ski binding ? retention device ? boot". ISO 8364:2017 contains data for the manufacturer of alpine skis, bindings and retention devices, concerning dimensions, tests and other specifications for the binding mounting area.

ISO 6003:2017 specifies laboratory measurement methods for mass and polar moment of inertia of alpine skis. If laboratory measurement data are determined and published by the ski manufacturer or other institutions, standard measurement procedures can be used to ensure comparability. ISO 6003:2017 also specifies a tolerance range which can be met by the measurement data of all manufactured skis, if for the specific model length measurement data are published by the manufacturer of the ski. NOTE The appropriate ski length can be given with the published measurement data. ISO 6003:2017 is not the purpose of this document to evaluate the measurement data with regard to their influence on the quality of the ski.

ISO 7139:2017 specifies laboratory measurement methods to determine the elastic properties of cross-country skis. Its purpose is to calculate the resistance of defined parts of the ski to bending. ISO 7139:2017 applies to cross-country skis with a nominal length greater than or equal to 150 cm. The standard measurement procedures can be used to ensure comparability between laboratory measurement data, determined and published by ski manufacturers, institutions or others. In ISO 7139:2017, no attempt is made to relate the measurement data to the quality of the ski

ISO 10045:2017 specifies the dimensions, mechanical properties and fastening characteristics of test screws used for testing the binding mounting area of alpine skis.

ISO 7798:2017 specifies a method for the determination of the fatigue indexes of cross-country skis (i.e. the resistance of the skis to changes of bottom camber height or irreversible damage) after a bending test with cyclic loading. ISO 7798:2017 is applicable to cross-country skis with a nominal length of 160 cm to 215 cm.

ISO 7138:2017 specifies laboratory measurement methods for mass and location of the balance point of cross-country skis. If laboratory measurement data are determined and published by manufacturers or other institutions, standard measurement procedures can be used to ensure comparability. ISO 7138:2017 is not the purpose of this document to evaluate the measurement data with regard to their influence on the quality of the ski.

ISO 11110:2015 specifies the tests and requirements for devices used to determine the release moments of ski-bindings in retail sales, rental, and other facilities. It specifies requirements for the design accuracy, operation, maintenance, and calibration of the test devices used for determining binding release settings. For other requirements, see appropriate standards (e.g. standards on electronic measuring devices, safety of electrical apparatus, etc.). It is to be used in conjunction with ISO 9462 and ISO 8061.

ISO 8783:2015 provides guidelines for carrying out comparative testing of alpine skis with the objective of evaluating the performance characteristics. It is applicable to alpine skis in accordance with ISO 6289.

ISO 11087:2015 specifies the requirements for ski brakes and binding straps. It is applicable to alpine retention devices, which are used to reduce the risk of injury, caused by the ski after the ski's release.

ISO 10958-2:2015 specifies requirements and test methods for snowboards as sports equipment on which bindings are attached by means of inserts that are not removable and screws. It contains data for the manufacturer of snowboards, bindings and retention devices concerning dimensions, tests and other specifications for the binding mounting area. For dimensions with no tolerance indicated, a tolerance of ±1 mm is valid.

ISO 13992:2014 specifies the main characteristics of touring ski-bindings and describes, as an example, the test methods A and B. ISO 13992:2014 applies, in principle, to touring ski-bindings for alpine skiing for children, juniors, and adults.

ISO 9462:2014 specifies the main characteristics of ski-bindings and describes, as an example, the test methods A and B. ISO 9462:2014 applies to ski-bindings for alpine skiing for children, juniors, and adults.

ISO 5902:2013 specifies laboratory measurement methods to determine the elastic properties of alpine skis. Its purpose is to calculate the resistance of defined parts of the ski to bending and torsion. The standard measurement procedures are recommended in order to ensure comparability between laboratory measurement data determined and published by ski manufacturers, institutions and others.

ISO 6265:2013 specifies a method for determining the resistance of alpine skis to permanent deformation and breaking. lt is applicable to all alpine skis for adults, juveniles and children.

ISO 6266:2013 specifies a method for the determination of the fatigue indexes of alpine skis (i.e. the resistance of the skis to changes in shape and of stiffness) after a bending test with cyclic loading.

This International Standard defines an impact test for establishing the maximum impulse for retention of a test ski on the test sole in the lateral direction. The test provides a measure of the release/retention boundary for lateral release of a ski-binding for adults (type A according to ISO 9462) at a particular ski-binding setting. The test method is designed to simulate the lateral impulsive loading during skiing located at the front part of the ski. The test permits the evaluation of a ski-binding's release and retention properties under expected loading rates. The test permits comparison of the release caused by lateral impulse to the ski for different binding system designs.

ISO 7795:2011 specifies test methods for determining the mounting and fastening characteristics of screws that are intended for fastening ski binding to cross-country skis. The requirements for ski-binding screws are specified in ISO 7794. The results of the test methods specified in ISO 7795:2011 characterize only the properties of the screw. The results do not specify the actual mounting and fastening characteristics of different ski models, this information being specified in ISO 9119.

ISO 7794:2011 specifies the dimensions, mechanical properties, mounting and fastening characteristics of screws used for mounting ski bindings on cross-country skis. The purpose of ISO 7794:2011 is to facilitate the design of a more rational and safer binding mounting system.

ISO 10228:2011 specifies the dimensions, mechanical properties and fastening characteristics of test screws used for testing the binding mounting area of cross-country skis.

ISO 22264:2006 specifies the dimensions and characteristics of the interface, requirements, test methods and marking of Telemark ski-boots with flexible sole which are used with current systems of telemark ski-bindings with attachment at the boot toe and boot heel, the proper function of which depends on the dimensions and design of the interfaces. For Telemark ski-binding systems that function irrespective of the sole shape or that have different requirements for the sole dimensions, it is not always necessary for the Telemark ski-boot soles to comply with this International Standard in order to achieve the desired degree of safety. ISO 22264:2006 applies to Telemark ski-boots of sizes 15,0 and larger in the mondopoint system.

ISO 14790:2005 specifies the essential requirements (including certain quality aspects) of snowboard plate bindings without release mechanism. It is applicable to non-releasable snowboard plate bindings for adults and children. ISO 14790:2005 does not apply to snowboard plate bindings with a release mechanism or to snowboard soft bindings.

ISO 15344:2005 specifies the essential requirements for a snowboard step-in binding - boot system, in the text referred to as step-in snowboard bindings. This International Standard is applicable to step-in snowboard bindings for adults and children. This type of binding system utilizes a mechanical interlocking mechanism, and the interlock mechanism of the system will be specific to the particular manufacturer. Compatibility between different systems is not expected or anticipated thus each potential combination of boot and binding requires testing.

This International Standard specifies the essential requirements of snowboard strap bindings for soft boots (see 3.1), hereafter referred to as snowboard bindings. This International Standard is applicable to snowboard strap bindings for adults and children, but covers also strap bindings for soft boots, which may have step-in function. This International Standard does not apply to antiskid pads. NOTE 1 For snowboard plate bindings without a release mechanism, see ISO 14790. NOTE 2 For the binding mounting area of snowboards without inserts see ISO 10958-1 and with inserts see ISO/DIS 10958-2.

Specifies the dimensions and characteristics of the interface zone of the sole and parts of the shaft of snowboard-boots, to provide defined attachment conditions for the snowboard-binding.

Specifies the dimensions, mechanical properties, and fastening characteristics of screws used for mounting ski bindings on alpine skis. This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition (1981).

Specifies requirements and test methods for the binding mounting areas of cross-country skis, within which parts of the toe-clip binding in accordance with ISO 6960 may be mounted. Alpine skis are excluded.

The purpose of the measuring method is to determine the residual camber height and length as a function of the load ("flattening test"). Gives some essential informations related to the parameters "contact load" and "standard camber length". Applies to cross-country skis of size 130 cm and longer.

Specifies the conditions for measuring the geometrical characteristics of alpine and cross-country skis (sampling and conditioning, tolerances) and the details of the test report.

Specifies a method for determination of the resistance of defined parts of cross-country skis to breaking when quasistatically loaded. The test is applicable to all sizes of cross-country skis for adults, juniors and children. The test procedure shall not be used for determination of breaking load of ski structures with relatively high plastic deformation (for example skis with steel edges or skis with aluminium skins).

NOTE In the case where the two components (SB and B) are rented, ISO 13993 gives a method of measurement by sampling as an alternative to systematic measurement, before delivery to the end-user.

ISO 8061:2015 specifies methods for the selection of the release torques for alpine ski-bindings. It gives information necessary to determine the release torques; these are to be recommended for use by ski-binding manufacturers in their instructions for installation and use, and by ski shops for the adjustment of already mounted ski-bindings. It applies to alpine ski-bindings in current use. It might be inappropriate for non-mechanical bindings or bindings used with boots which reach more than half-way up the lower leg. Manufacturers may use either of the two specified methods, or a combination of the two, as the basis for their recommended release torques. The methods apply to torque-measuring binding test machines. If force-measuring test machines are used, it is necessary to report the release force, calculated as shown in Clause 3. In recommending the release torques, it is necessary to take into account the abilities of the skier concerned by applying skier-type correction factors. For this purpose, three types of skier are defined, as described in Annex A.

ISO 7331:2011 defines the minimum requirements for safety in ski-poles for alpine skiing and specifies test methods to check conformity with these requirements. Special designs may deviate from ISO 7331:2011, but shall be marked in a durable manner as special designs.
