The ISO 29461 standards specifies methods and procedures to determine the performance of particulate air filters used in air intake filter systems for rotary machinery such as gas turbines, compressors and other internal combustion engines.
The ISO 29461-4 of the standard specifies methods for performance testing of individual filter elements and of the complete filtration system used in Marine and offshore environments. This procedure is intended for filter elements and filter systems which operate at flow rated up to 8000 m3/h per filter element.

This document specifies methods and procedures for determining the static performance of particulate air filters used in air intake filter systems for rotary machinery such as stationary gas turbines, compressors and other stationary internal combustion engines. It applies to air filters with an efficiency of 85 % or more for the MPPS (EPA and HEPA filters) which are tested according to ISO 29463 (all parts) and filters with a lower efficiency which are tested according to ISO 16890 (all parts). The procedures described in both ISO 16890 (all parts) and ISO 29463 (all parts) are applied and extended by this document to air filters which operate at flow rates within the range 0,24 m3/s (850 m3/h) up to 2,36 m3/s (8 500 m3/h).
Static filter systems normally use multiple stages of coarse, fine and optional EPA or HEPA filter elements to protect the machinery. The scope of this document includes methods for performance testing of individual filter elements. It does not include methods for the direct measurement of the performance of entire systems as installed in service except in cases where they can meet the qualification criteria for the test assembly. Nevertheless, cumulative filter efficiencies of multistage systems of fine filters can be calculated by using the methods described in ISO 16890-1.
This document refers to static (barrier) filter systems but can also be applied to other filter types and systems in appropriate circumstances, for example to evaluate the initial efficiency of cleanable and surface loading filters.
The performance results obtained in accordance with this document cannot be quantitatively applied (by themselves) to predict performance in service with regard to efficiency and lifetime.

8. Scope
The ISO 29461 series specifies methods and procedures to determine the performance of particulate
air filters used in air intake filter systems for rotary machinery such as gas turbines, compressors and
other internal combustion engines.
The ISO 29461-3 of the standard specifies a method and procedure to test the mechanical integrity
(“Burst Test”) of individual filter elements up to an abnormal final test pressure drop of maximum 6250
Pa. Any other customer defined final pressure drop up to a maximum of 8000 Pa shall be reported as
variation from the standard. It is within the liability of the user to define the maximum possible value
(lower or higher) for a certain application and to define the burst strength requirements for this test
procedure. As the pressure drops under typical operating conditions are on a much lower level, it is not
intended to specify a final pressure drop for any application within this procedure.
This procedure is intended for all types of filter elements (e.g. V-bank cassette filters or filter cartridges)
used in the final stage(s) of an Air Intake Filter Systems for Rotary Machinery in various environmental
conditions, as e.g. in marine applications. These filters are operating at flow rates within the range of
0,25 m³/s (900 m³/h) up to 2,23 m³/s (8000 m³/h), no matter if it is used in a static or pulse cleaned air
intake system.

This document specifies design, type test methods, marking and instruction requirements for cylinder valves with integrated pressure regulators (VIPRs) intended to be fitted to gas cylinders, pressure drums or tubes or used as a main valve for bundles of cylinders that convey compressed, liquefied or dissolved gases.
These are requirements for VIPRs that are in addition to those given in the relevant closure standard, for example, in ISO 10297 for cylinder valves, in ISO 17871 for quick-release cylinder valves, in ISO 17879 for self-closing cylinder valves or in ISO 23826 for ball valves. For ISO 17871, these requirements are only applicable to quick-release cylinder valves types B, C, D and E.
NOTE 1        If the pressure regulating system of a VIPR is acting as the primary valve operating mechanism, it is covered by the relevant closure standard, e.g. ISO 10297, ISO 17871, ISO 17879 and ISO 23826. This also includes designs where closure of the primary valve operating mechanism of a VIPR is obtained by closing the seat of the pressure regulating system.
NOTE 2        If the primary valve operating mechanism of a VIPR is located at the low-pressure side of the pressure regulating system, it is covered by the relevant closure standard, e.g. ISO 10297, ISO 17871, ISO 17879 and ISO 23826.
NOTE 3        The term “pressure receptacle” is used within this document to cover instances where no differentiation is necessary between gas cylinders, bundles of cylinders, pressure drums and tubes.
This document does not apply to VIPRs for
a)       medical applications (see ISO 10524-3);
b)       liquefied petroleum gas (LPG);
c)        cryogenic applications.
NOTE 4        Additional requirements for a VIPR with a residual pressure device (RPD) are specified in ISO 15996.
