Textiles for healthcare and social services facilities

This document recommends characteristics, test methods and minimum performance specifications for unused textile for the healthcare and social service facilities (hospitals, residential care homes, etc.) to give guidance on the suitability of products intended to be maintained by industrial laundering.
This document is not applicable to surgical textiles under the Medical Devices Directive nor protective clothing under the PPE Directive.

Le présent document recommande des caractéristiques, des méthodes d’essai et des spécifications minimales de performance pour les textiles neufs utilisés dans les établissements de santé et de services sociaux (hôpitaux, maisons de retraite, etc.) afin de donner des recommandations relatives à l’aptitude à l’emploi des produits destinés à être entretenus par blanchissage industriel.
Il ne s’applique pas aux textiles chirurgicaux relevant de la Directive sur les dispositifs médicaux ni aux vêtements de protection relevant de la Directive sur les EPI.

Tekstilije za zdravstveno in socialno oskrbo

Ta tehnična specifikacija priporoča značilnosti, preskusne metode in minimalne specifikacije delovanja za nerabljene tekstilije za zdravstveno in socialno oskrbo (bolnišnice, domovi za starejše itd.) za namene podajanja napotkov glede primernosti proizvodov, ki so predvideni za industrijsko pranje.
Ta tehnična specifikacija se ne uporablja za kirurške tekstilije v okviru direktive o medicinskih pripomočkih in zaščitno obleko v okviru direktive o osebni zaščitni opremi.

This Technical Specification (CEN/TS) was approved by CEN on 16 August 2021 for provisional application.

The period of validity of this CEN/TS is limited initially to three years. After two years the members of CEN will be requested to
submit their comments, particularly on the question whether the CEN/TS can be converted into a European Standard.

CEN members are required to announce the existence of this CEN/TS in the same way as for an EN and to make the CEN/TS
available promptly at national level in an appropriate form. It is permissible to keep conflicting national standards in force (in
parallel to the CEN/TS) until the final decision about the possible conversion of the CEN/TS into an EN is reached.

CEN members are the national standards bodies of Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia,
