Tractors and machinery for agriculture and forestry — Serial control and communications data network — Part 8: Power train messages

ISO 11783-8:2006 specifies a serial data network for control and communications on forestry or agricultural tractors, mounted, semi-mounted, towed or self-propelled implements. Its purpose is to standardize the method and format of transfer of data between sensor, actuators, control elements, information storage and display units whether mounted or part of the tractor, or any implements. ISO 11783-8:2005 describes the messages required by tractors and self-propelled implements.

L'ISO 11783-8:2006 spécifie un réseau de données en série pour la commande et les communications sur les tracteurs forestiers ou agricoles et les équipements portés, semi-portés, tractés ou automoteurs. Elle vise à normaliser la méthode et le format du transfert de données entre capteurs, actionneurs, dispositifs de commande, unités de stockage et d'affichage de données, que ces éléments soient montés sur le tracteur ou qu'ils fassent partie du tracteur ou de tout autre outil. Предисловие
Международная организация по стандартизации (ISO) является всемирной федерацией национальных
организаций по стандартизации (комитетов-членов ISO). Разработка международных стандартов
обычно осуществляется техническими комитетами ISO. Каждый комитет-член, заинтересованный в
деятельности, для которой был создан технический комитет, имеет право быть представленным в этом
комитете. Международные организации, правительственные и неправительственные, имеющие связи
с ISO, также принимают участие в работах. Что касается стандартизации в области электротехники, то

Foreword
ISO (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies
(ISO member bodies). The work of preparing International Standards is normally carried out through ISO
technical committees. Each member body interested in a subject for which a technical committee has been
established has the right to be represented on that committee. International organizations, governmental and
non-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work. ISO collaborates closely with the
International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) on all matters of electrotechnical standardization.
International Standards are drafted in accordance with the rules given in the ISO/IEC Directives, Part 2.
The main task of technical committees is to prepare International Standards. Draft International Standards
adopted by the technical committees are circulated to the member bodies for voting. Publication as an
International Standard requires approval by at least 75 % of the member bodies casting a vote.

Introduction
Parts 1 to 11 of ISO 11783 specify a communications system for agricultural equipment based on the

CAN 2.0 B protocol. SAE J 1939 documents, on which parts of ISO 11783 are based, were developed
jointly for use in truck and bus applications and for construction and agriculture applications. Joint documents
were completed to allow electronic units that meet the truck and bus SAE J 1939 specifications to be used by

L'ISO (Organisation internationale de normalisation) est une fédération mondiale d'organismes nationaux de
normalisation (comités membres de l'ISO). L'élaboration des Normes internationales est en général confiée
