BRIEF HISTORY
The IS0 Recommendation R 1401, General purpose agiculhua1 rubber spray hose, was drawn up by
Technical Committee ISO/TC 45, Rubber, the Secretariat of which is held by the British Standards Institution (BSI).
Work on this question led to the adoption of Draft IS0 Recommendation No. 1401,which was circulated to
all the IS0 Member Bodies for enquiry in December 1967. It was approved, subject to a few modifications of an

editorial nature, by the following Member Bodies :

GENERAL PURPOSE RUBBER AGRICULTURAL SPRAY HOSE
INTRODUCTION
This IS0 Recommendation has been prepared to provide minimum acceptable requirements for the satisfactory
performance of rubber agricultural spray hose for general purposes.
This type of hose is designed for the spraying of insecticides, fungicides, weeding and chemical liquid compounds
for use in orchards, parks, forestry, vineyard maintenance and similar agricultural applications. The spraying
of these compounds can be performed by two methods, i.e. by a hand pump or by a power driven pump, according
to the required delivery and range of the jet, and the nature of the liquid to be sprayed. With the greater delivery
values, the higher pressure built up when the nozzle is shut off also needs to be considered. For this reason two
types of hose have been considered.
From the point of view of the quality of the hose lining, the nature of the liquid to be sprayed is very important.
Two types of liquid have to be considered, i.e. with hydrocarbon base or water base, respectively with or without
swelling action on the lining rubber. Consequently, two classes of hoses have been provided for :
(a) hydrocarbon fluid resistant lining;
(b) non-hydrocarbon fluid resistant lining.
1. SCOPE
This IS0 Recommendation specifies the requirements for three types of general purpose agricultural rubber
spray hose as follows :
Type A - Light duty : not hydrocarbon fluid resistant - designed for a working pressure of 1 .O MN/m2 and a
proof test pressure of 1.6 MN/mz.
Type B - Light duty : hydrocarbon fluid resistant - designed for a working pressure of 1 .O MN/m2 and a proof
test pressure of 1.6 MN/m2.
Type C - Heavy duty : hydrocarbon fluid resistant - designed for a working pressure of 6.3 MN/m2 and a proof

élaborée par le Comité Technique ISO/TC 45, Caoutchouc, dont le Secrétariat est assuré par la British Standards
Institution (BSI).
Les travaux relatifs à cette question aboutirent à l’adoption du Projet de Recommandation IS0 No 1401
qui fut soumis,en décembre 1967,à l’enquête de tous les Comités Membres de I’ISO. II fut approuvé, sous réserve

À USAGE GÉNÉRAL
INTRODUCTION
La présente Recommandation IS0 a été établie pour fixer les spécifications minimales acceptables, en vue de réaliser
des tuyaux en caoutchouc pour pulvérisation agricole qui soient satisfaisants.
Ce type de tuyaux est destiné à la vaporisation des insecticides, des fongicides, des liquides contre les mauvaises herbes
et des composés liquides chimiques devant être utilisés dans les vergers, les jardins, les forêts, pour l’entretien des
vignes et pour des applications agricoles semblables. La pulvérisation des composés décrits ci-avant peut être réalisée
par deux méthodes : soit manuellement, soit au moyen d’une pompe selon le débit spécifié et la portée du jet ainsi que
la nature du liquide devant être vaporisé. Avec les débits les plus forts, la pression la plus élevée obtenue, lorsque la buse
est obturée, doit également être considérée. Pour cette raison, deux types de tuyaux ont été examinés.
En ce qui concerne la qualité du tube du tuyau, la nature du liquide qui doit être vaporisé est très importante. Deux
types de liquide ont donc été étudiés, l’un ayant comme base un hydrocarbure et l’autre l’eau, respectivement avec ou
sans action de gonflement sur le tube du tuyau. En conséquence, deux classes de tuyaux ont été prévues :
a) tube résistant aux hydrocarbures;
tube ne résistant pas aux hydrocarbures.

1. OBJET
La présente Recommandation IS0 spécifie les exigences requises pour les trois types de tuyaux en caoutchouc
pour pulvérisation agricole, à usages généraux, à savoir :
Type A - Service léger : ne résistant pas aux hydrocarbures - destiné à une pression de travail de 1 ,O MN/mZ
et une pression d’épreuve de 1,6 MN/mZ .
Type B - Service léger : résistant aux hydrocarbures - destiné à une pression de travail de 1 ,O MN/mZ et une
pression d’épreuve de 1,6 MN/mZ .
Type C - Service lourd : résistant aux hydrocarbures - destiné à une pression de travail de 6,3 MN/mZ et une
pression d’épreuve de 12,s MN/mZ .
NOTE. - Une autre Recommandation ISO, s’appliquant aux autres types de tuyaux pour des utilisations plus particulières, sera
établie.
