This part of ISO 9073 describes the hydrostatic pressure test that measures the resistance of nonwoven fabrics to the penetration of water under varied hydrostatic head pressures. This part of ISO 9073 applies to any nonwoven fabrics which are intended for use as a barrier to the penetration of fluids.c

Der vorliegende Teil der ISO 9073 beschreibt den hydrostatischen Druckversuch, bei dem die Beständigkeit von Vliesstoffen gegen die Durchdringung mit Wasser bei unterschiedlichen hydrostatischen Kopfdrücken gemessen wird.
Dieser Teil der ISO 9073 gilt für alle Vliesstoffe, die zur Verwendung als Sperre gegen das Durchdringen von Flüssigkeiten vorgesehen sind.

L'ISO 9073-16:2008 décrit un essai de pression hydrostatique qui permet de mesurer la résistance des étoffes nontissées à la pénétration d'eau sous différentes pressions hydrostatiques.
Elle s'applique à toute étoffe nontissée destinée à empêcher la pénétration de fluides.

The text of ISO 9073-16:2007 has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 38 “Textiles” of the
International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and has been taken over as EN ISO 9073-16:2008 by
Technical Committee CEN/TC 248 “Textiles and textile products” the secretariat of which is held by BSI.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical
text or by endorsement, at the latest by April 2009, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the
latest by April 2009.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of patent

Foreword
ISO (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies
(ISO member bodies). The work of preparing International Standards is normally carried out through ISO
technical committees. Each member body interested in a subject for which a technical committee has been
established has the right to be represented on that committee. International organizations, governmental and
non-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work. ISO collaborates closely with the
International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) on all matters of electrotechnical standardization.
International Standards are drafted in accordance with the rules given in the ISO/IEC Directives, Part 2.
The main task of technical committees is to prepare International Standards. Draft International Standards
adopted by the technical committees are circulated to the member bodies for voting. Publication as an
International Standard requires approval by at least 75 % of the member bodies casting a vote.
