This document describes hydraulic performance tests (including cavitation tests) using a small size pump (centrifugal, mixed flow or axial pump, hereinafter referred to as a "model pump"). This document is used for pump acceptance tests with a geometrically similar model pump to guarantee the performance of a large size pump manufactured for practical use (hereinafter, a "prototype pump"). This document, however does not preclude a temporary assembly inspection or other tests on the prototype pump. Moreover, it is preferable to conduct the tests with prototype pumps unless — the capacity of the pump, namely its flow rate and/or its power input, is beyond the limitations of the test facility, though it is difficult to set a criterion for carrying out a model pump test instead of the prototype pump test in terms of the volume rate of flow or the power input, — a part of the pump is to be constructed by concrete walls and reproduction of the whole assembly is impractical, — model tests are specified by the purchaser, or — it is difficult to carry out the prototype pump test due to any other reasons. This document applies to performance tests under steady operating conditions corresponding to the prototype pump.

ISO 9906:2012 specifies hydraulic performance tests for customers' acceptance of rotodynamic pumps (centrifugal, mixed flow and axial pumps). It is intended to be used for pump acceptance testing at pump test facilities, such as manufacturers' pump test facilities or laboratories. ISO 9906:2012 can be applied to pumps of any size and to any pumped liquids which behave as clean, cold water. It specifies three levels of acceptance: grades 1B, 1E and 1U with tighter tolerance; grades 2B and 2U with broader tolerance; grade 3B with even broader tolerance. It applies either to a pump itself without any fittings or to a combination of a pump associated with all or part of its upstream and/or downstream fittings.

ISO 21630:2007 prescribes acceptance test methods for submersible mixers used for mixing in wastewater and other applications where at least one system component is a liquid. "Submersible mixer" is taken to mean a fully submersible aggregate consisting of a drive unit and an axial flow type impeller, and optional parts, such as shrouds, supporting the basic functions. "Liquid" is taken to mean a body without capacity to accommodate shear stresses when at rest. This includes suspensions and dispersions (liquid/solid, gas/liquid and gas/liquid/solid), and non-Newtonian liquids, provided that a possible small yield stress does not prevent the liquid from flowing when agitated.

Forms the first of a set dealing with tests of pumps and specifies precision class tests (former class A). Engineering class I and class II tests (former classes B and C) will be the subject of a further standard. Defines the terms and quantities that are used and specifies general requirements for tests. Does not specify constructional tolerances.
