The purpose of this report is to give recommendations of the co-ordination of dimensions between enclosures and built-in devices for rail fixing for household or similar installations by listing the principal overall and related mounting dimensions, the rated current of a single device not exceeding 125 A. Examples of these devices are: MCBs, RCDs switches, fuse-systems, indicating lamps, relays, socketoutlets, timing switches, etc. Compliance with this document does not preclude the need for compliance with other relevant specifications. This document needs not apply to type tested and partially type tested assemblies which are covered by other specifications. The means of fixing envisaged in this document are mounting rails. Other possible means of fixing may be used but are not covered by these recommendations. Replaces R023-001:1995.

NOTE The only criterion chosen in this document for co-ordination of dimensions has been the geometry of the devices. When selecting the enclosure, other criteria should be taken into account, e.g. the rated current of the devices.

This standard applies to conversion adaptors intended mainly for industrial use, comprising a housing of insulating material which incorporates an industrial 2P + , 16 A, 6 h 250 V~ type plug part (Table 104 in standard EN 60309-2) and one or two socket-outlets in accordance with the relevant national standards for socketoutlets for household and similar use, with a rated current up to 16 A, intended mainly for industrial use either indoors or outdoors. Adaptors can be used in conjunction with socket-outlets and/or connectors This standard applies to all applications where the ambient temperature does not normally exceed 40 °C. The use of these adaptors on building sites, for agricultural, commercial and domestic applications is not precluded but care should be taken in considering protecting devices in use. Adaptors are for temporary use only. In locations where special conditions prevail, for example on board ship or where explosions are liable to occur, additional requirements may be necessary.

The limits and methods of measurement laid down in this publication apply to industrial, scientific and medical (ISM) equipment as defined in Clause 3, and to spark erosion equipment. The assessment of conformity of equipment tested on a test site shall be in accordance with the specifications of Clause 6. For equipment in series production, there shall be 80% confidence that at least 80% of manufactured items comply with the limits given. The statistical assessment procedure is specified in subclause 6.3. For small scale production the application of the statistical assessment may not always be economical. In such cases the assessment procedure contained in subclause 6.2 may be applied. Measurement results obtained for an equipment measured in its place of use and not on a test site shall relate to that installation only, and shall not be considered representative of any other installation and so shall not be used for the purpose of a statistical assessment. Procedures are given for the measurement of radio frequency disturbances and limits are laid down within the frequency range 9 kHz to 400 GHz. 1.4 Requirements for lighting apparatus are contained in EN 55015.
